Housing

Find your haven of rest and relaxation.

Emerson is an urban college in the heart of downtown Boston, a dynamic city bustling with excitement and energy. We know city living can feel overwhelming at times, even as Boston is smaller and more accessible than other major metropolitan cities. Emerson’s residence halls will be your haven and your home base.

No matter which residence hall you live in, you’ll have the best of both worlds: the amenities of home while living in the exciting energy of downtown Boston. Our residences provide students with all you need to power through your classes and activities: Wi-Fi and laundry facilities, common rooms to hang out with your friends, and a variety of dining options. You’ll have easy access to Emerson’s fitness center, library, classrooms, and state-of-the-art studio spaces.

In Emerson’s living spaces, you’ll shape meaningful friendships and find a supportive community. At the heart of residential life at Emerson are responsible, enthusiastic, and caring resident assistants (RAs). RAs are returning students who act as leaders, communicating rules designed for everyone’s convenience and safety, and to protect individual rights. The RAs counsel students who have concerns and do their best to make daily life better for all our residents.

While new incoming first-year students can expect to live in an Emerson residence hall, transfer students and some upperclass students may explore off-campus housing options near downtown Boston and in local neighborhoods. The Office of Off-Campus Student Services helps off-campus students secure housing, offers programming on personal budgeting and health and safety, and ensures off-campus students are integrated into Emerson’s campus life.

Students planning to live off-campus can consult Emerson’s Off-Campus Housing website to secure apartments and roommates for communal living.
